Eureka, Humboldt County

We drove through the beautiful redwood groves yesterday to our destination of Eureka, California. We had a picnic lunch with the view of one of the world’s largest trees behind us. You can drive your car through this tree! There are many giant trees in over 51,000 acres of the redwood belt.

The temperature dropped almost 20 degrees by the time we reached the waterfront city of Eureka. Eureka has many renovated buildings of Victorian architecture from the early 1850’s. We visited the boardwalk and ate dinner at an Italian restaurant downtown. We walked around the downtown area, and did some “window-shopping”.
