The Mormon Temple

Saturday we went on a Grayline tour of Salt Lake City. We saw the famous historical Mormon sites, such as the Temple and Brigham Young’s house. We were a little disgusted hearing about his 28 wives…. enough said about that!

Bob also went on a tour of the Kennecott’s first open-pit copper mine. Besides the Great Wall of China, this is the only other site that can be recognized from outer space because of its size. Bob was fascinated by the fact that over 6 billion tons of material have been removed since the mine opened in 1906.

Today was a really pleasant day! We met a couple on the city tour yesterday and spent some time socializing last night. They invited us to go see Park City with them today. The little city is surrounded by the most beautiful fall colors… it looks like a painting. We had lunch out and really enjoyed getting to know Susan and Dave. They invited us to go over to their RV this evening for dessert. We look forward to staying in touch and perhaps doing some travelling together. We’re thankful that we’ve met some new friends. Having something fun to do today helped get my mind off of the fact that we were missing the baby dedication today at church for two of our grandsons, Danny and Luke. That's the hard part about travelling... not being able to be there for all of the family events.
