Exploring Idaho

The drive from McCall to Twin Falls was interesting. The first half was a spectacular view of the Boise National Forest. We traveled on a scenic highway, seeing rushing rivers and creeks, and Autumn colors. We drove through a city called Eagle, and it was one where we thought “we could live there”… a clean, new, pristine city with beautifully landscaped planned communities. Then we drove for a while through desolate plains and hoped it would soon end, but we have found that every state has had its not-so-pretty areas. Then we came to Twin Falls, where we are now staying. Today we visited Shoshone Falls, known as the Niagara of the West. Wow! It was spectacular! The falls tumble 212’ to the canyon floor. We walked the trail to the canyon rim and the view was endless, with the lakes below. This is the area where Evil Knievil attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon in 1974. Then we had lunch in a pub in the historic district of Twin Falls, where they hand out fly swatters at the tables, due to a “fly problem” in the area….ick!
